Some Good News!

As many of you know, Griffin has been having some feeding issues. He entered this world nursing like a champ. This quickly turned to not latching at all and us giving him formula. Well, our little guy wouldn't even suck on a bottle! The first week of his life was spent with us thinking he was just a slow eater. His one week weight check showed him at 9 lbs 13 oz. Not a big deal, but only a half ounce from where he left the hospital. We went back a week later to check on a skin rash and constipation, and discovered that he was losing weight. At this point he was only taking in about 9 oz of formula a day in the form of 1-2 oz bottles. A normal 2 week old would be taking in 3-6 oz bottles. At this point, the dr. switched us to Nutramigen. Nutramigen is an insanely expensive hypoallergenic formula (about twice the cost of a regular formula). He was on the Nutramigen for the week. He didn't take in any more ounces per feeding, but did seem to request more frequent feedings. Fine with us! As of today, he is up to 14 oz a day (on average), and has GAINED 3.5 oz! This is very good. He is also pooping on his own (at least we hope the two poops he had weren't flukes). No more suppositories! We will go back again in two weeks to make sure he is still gaining. Here are some new pictures! Enjoy!
